The Stack display is pretty good but has several things against it:
  1. It's expensive to upgrade
  2. I'm not impressed with Stack Inc's support..they couldn't be bothered to source me a switch bezel :o)
  3. It's functionaly limited and outdated technology

So out with the old, in with the new. It's going in favour of an AIM MXL Strada. The benefits of the MXL is that it can communicate via CAN - an interface protocol that the Emerald K3 also speaks - anything data the Emerald sees, the MXL can display.

The display itself is configurable via a PC so its flexible in what it'll listen to and what it'll display.

I've configured mine to permenantly display Water Temperature, Oil pressure, Speed, RPM, odometer and the Gear indicator. It will also switch between showing Fuel percentage & Battery Voltage, and Throttle Position & AFR,

It's set to alarm for oil over-pressure, water over-temperature, low battery, and low fuel.

I've made my own loom, using some Supaseal connectors to hook it into the main car loom. In the process, I've taken the opportunity to revise a lot of the wiring since a lot of it was badly-run or redundant.

I used a fellow BlatChatter (Phil's) fuel sender damping circuit to slow the response of the fuel level voltage. The fuel tank was then emptied and filled in 1 litre increments. During the filling, a laptop was connected up to the MXL and the software put into 'Online' mode. This allows the software to display exactly how many millivolts the display is seeing from the various sender inputs - essentially acting as a multimeter. I compiled a table of the voltage readings for each filling and then used this to create a custom sender:
