 Aeroscreen Work

This seems to be fairly typical behaviour for seven owners. You eventually start considering the merits of losing the windscreen, at least temporarily. It's not helped by the legions of converts who have gone before, recommending it as a step you'll never regret.

In a nod towards practicality, I'm going the interchangeable route. This effectively means a couple of quick-change connectors for the heated screen and some captive nuts to make the 4-bolt removal quicker and easier. It should be a 20-minute job to switch from full screen to aeroscreen - simply undo the bolts, remove the wipers and refit.

The aeroscreen and mirrors fit nicely, but... there's a problem. Now that the floor has been lowered by about 40mm (see lowered floor section), my sightline just clips the top of the aeroscreen. Not too badly, but enough to be annoying. Anyway, it makes it impossible to see the nose of the car without stretching and is also going to make turning into corners and looking for the apex difficult. I'm not content to live with it, so a solution to raise the seat is required.. ARGHHH!

I've experimented with raising the seat by about 20mm. This seems to be a good compromise. It still leaves the seat lower than before, so my view through the windscreen should still be better but it'll also improve my view when the aeroscreen's fitted. Luckily the seat frames I've knocked up already can be readily adjusted to compensate for the 20mm increase in height required.
