Lowered Floor Work

Being fairly tall, I find my sight-line annoying close to the top of the screen. I've also had to use a tall FIA rollbar to make sure my head is a decent safety margain beneath the bar, which is a shame because the tall bar spoils the balanced look fo the car.

Caterham have released a lowered floor pan to replace the standard one. The difference in seat height between the floor types is 45mm.

The difference between a standard FIA bar and a tall one is 57mm, so if I change both I only lose 1.2cm in clearance - a figure I think should be okay.

A 2nd-hand drivers-side lowered floorpan has been sourced for not-that-much which I will start fitting shortly. A standard FIA bar has also been acquired, stripped down and re-coated with POR15. I'll see how this looks and if necessary take it off and powdercoat it.

I've had to make a few modifications - the first is for the side impact bar, which required a notch to be cut in the sides of the floorpan, so that the bar can pass through it.

The second modification is in the rear outer corner of the floorpan, in order to accomodate the front a-frame bush. I've made a small pocket from 2mm aluminium to act as a tie between the chassis and the floor,as well as to box in the hole left.
